چکیده

Abstract We report the results of joint Chandra/ACIS—NuSTAR deep observations NGC 1167, host galaxy young radio jet B2 0258+35. In ACIS data, we detect X-ray emission, extended both along and orthogonal to jet. At end southeast jet, find lower-energy emission that coincides with a region CO turbulence fast outflow motions. This suggests hot interstellar medium (ISM) may be compressed by molecular outflow, resulting in more efficient cooling. Hydrodynamic simulations jet–ISM interaction tailored 1167 are agreement this conclusion overall morphology spectra emission. The faint hard nuclear source detected Chandra stringent NuSTAR upper limits on harder show active galactic nucleus (AGN) is very low-accretion state. However, characteristics consonant those luminous Compton-thick (CT) AGNs, suggesting observing remnants past high accretion rate episode, sustained strong activity lasting ?2 × 10 3 yr. conclude NGC1167 presently Low-Ionization Nuclear Emission-line Region (LINER) , but was an AGN past, given properties their similarity CT

AGN - Induced Cavities in NGC 1399 and NGC 4649

We present an analysis of archival Chandra and VLA observations of the E0 galaxy NGC 1399 and the E2 galaxy NGC 4649 in which we investigate cavities in the surrounding X-ray emitting medium caused by the central AGN. We calculate the jet power required for the AGN to evacuate these cavities and find values of ∼ 8×10 erg s and ∼ 14×10 erg s for the lobes of NGC 1399 and ∼ 7×10 erg s and ∼ 6×10 ...

Detection of an iron K Emission Line from the LINER NGC 4579

We present the results of an ASCA observation of the LINER NGC 4579. A point-like X-ray source is detected at the nucleus with a 2–10 keV luminosity of 1.5× 1041 ergs s−1assuming a distance of 16.8 Mpc. The X-ray spectrum is represented by a combination of a power-law with a photon index of ∼1.7 and soft thermal component with kT ∼0.9 keV. An iron K emission line is detected at 6.73 ± 0.13 keV ...

Starburst superwind and LINER activity in NGC 4945

Spectra (3700-10000 Å) and continuum + line images of NGC4945 at optical (V,R,Z,[O III],H +[N II]) and IR (J,H,K,L,H2,Br ) wavelengths reveal a conical wind–blown cavity. The Br and L band images trace a starburst disc or ring with no morphological similarity to the more extended H2 emission which shows the cavity and indicates that it is confined by molecular material heated by shocks or X-ray...
